Regional Delegate Reports

Hello Montana Region:

Merry Spring to you all! The Delegate Team has been very active since our last Regional Meeting. The week following that meeting, we attended the RMZF and also participated in the conference participant meeting on the same Saturday. Beginning in January, we launched the CAR (Conference Agenda Report) workshops in Missoula. On February 7th, we held a workshop in Kalispell, and on February 21st, another in Great Falls. I’m pleased to share that as we continued, we became more efficient at answering questions and presenting the material. We sincerely appreciate and thank the areas that hosted these workshops and helped us spread the information—you all are fantastic! We look forward to offering more workshops in the future. If you’d like to participate in the CAR survey and make sure Montana’s voice is heard, please visit the CAR/CAT Survey. This survey collects feedback and creates a graph to help the Delegate Team represent Montana at the WSC (World Service Conference). I’ve shared the survey link via the Communications Email List, the Montucky Facebook page, and the Area 2 Facebook Page. If you have another Facebook page where you’d like the survey posted, please let us know. We ask all RCMs to share their Area’s conscience with us by this Regional Meeting. This deadline is important because all CAR Survey results must be submitted to NAWS by April 1st. WSC Orientation will be on April 18th, and we’ll need to complete the initial straw poll within 72 hours. Gathering Montana’s consensus before April 1st is crucial, as it gives us time to review and accurately report our region’s input. The regional survey will remain open until May 1st.

The recent RMZF meeting in Cody was productive. One key topic was the importance of securing funding so that Zonal Contacts can attend RMZF events without having to pay for their own travel and hotel, as these costs can be prohibitive and may reduce participation. Currently, expenses for the RMZF website and the Zoom account have been covered by individual members. The proposed annual budget is $5,421, which would cover Zonal Contacts’ travel and lodging, domain registration, and hosting in-person RMZF meetings. In the past, regions used their own or personal Zoom accounts for meetings. At this time, the RMZF has two Zonal Contacts and a Web servant. If we move forward with creating a budget, we will also need to establish a treasurer position for financial oversight.

I am including the budget proposal with my report to start the discussion.

What implications does this have for Montana? I am so glad you asked! There are currently 6 Regions in the RMZF. If the projected budget is approximately $5,421 per year, all regions would be responsible for paying $903.50 annually.

There is huge news that has gone out by email regarding the 2028 WCNA 39 that will be held in Dublin, Ireland. The exact dates have not been decided yet, but it will most likely be in July. The WCNA budget is not included in the CAT because final decisions about site selection had not been made by the time of reporting. As more information becomes available, we will send it out via the Communications Email List.

There were also some miscalculations in the proposed budget in the CAT for the base year, but those errors do not change the proposed budget for fiscal years 2027-2029. If you have any questions, please send them to [email protected] and we will do our best to get those answers for you.
